Everyone at Pitti Uomo, Minus 8 at MFW

Pitti Uomo pushes on the accelerator, just as the men’s fashion segment seems to waver in the face of ‘mono-gender’ strategies (already made official by Burberry and Gucci), and the need for a continuous-and-ubiquitous exhibition itinerary of the brands during of the year. While these combinations, for example, seem to weigh on the next edition of Milano Uomo, the Florentine event is preparing for an edition with an unprecedented number of ‘aces’.

The last shot, for the edition scheduled from 14 to 17 June, is the first exhibition dedicated to the photographic works of Karl Lagerfeld, which will be set up at Palazzo Pitti. The German designer has also been active behind the lens for years: his many campaigns for Chanel and Fendi, as well as some photo shoots for numerous fashion magazines. The arrival of the Kaiser adds to the already large group of guest designers: Raf Simons, in addition to presenting his menswear proposals for spring/summer 2017, will curate a special project for the ninetieth edition of the fair. Fausto Puglisi will unveil his first capsule collection dedicated to men together with the 2017 cruise. Lucio Vanotti will be a guest of the Pitti Italics section. Gosha Rubchinskiy and Visvim are also expected.

While there is a risk of overcrowding in Florence, the Milan fashion week registers several absences. In addition to Vanotti, engaged at Pitti Uomo, Ermenegildo Zegna also confirmed their defection, whose new course with the new creative director Alessandro Sartori will probably be inaugurated in January. Calvin Klein Collection declines the invitation to show due to the recent departure of the designer Italo Zucchelli opting for a presentation. N°21 and Corneliani are also on standby. Maybe Brijuni and Costume National. Gucci has recently adhered to the formula of the single show for the women’s and men’s collections, and if it decides to merge the proposals by skipping this edition of the MFW?
There are those who hypothesize that the fashion shows, scheduled from 18 to 21 June, could be reorganized into three days.
