This is an intense period, devoted to fashion shows but also in several exhibitions such as Trend Selection New York and Trend Selection London; niche events that in the winter edition, expose the new leather products for next spring and summer. Through these meetings, which catalyze the interest fo many sector workers, it is interesting to understand where is going the fashion scene.
Last season the events Trend Selection New York and Trend Selection London showed off different trends under the sign of the experiment: in leather is always clearer the desire of creativity, often with surprising results. Sometimes gloss skin has been enriched with processes that imitated the fabric. Design language, sometimes more complex showed several suggestions, from the most traditional to the most risky ones. Textural joints, and unexpected forms and 3D processing have appeared on different types of skin and soft tones alternated with warm colors, flash of pearly tones interrupted cool shades, from deep purple to blue ocean until the green bottle. Spraying and iridescent dye seemed to come from the depths of the sea. The most eccentric processes reproduce the luster of metals and attracted curious glances. Graphic patterns,carving and repeated prints, covered the material for an urbanwear inspiration.
If the presented trends at the last edition showed a heterogeneous nature with a focus on quality and research,future editions will continue to amaze us: today the skin is increasingly worked as a fabric, it has a soft touch and the results are amazing; faded,patters and finishes will surprise us in the coming seasons, which look to avant-garde inspirations but not only.
I think that contradictions are the leitmotif of the latest proposals. What could be the ahead way isn’t impossible to be established:the component of creaftmanship and technology have become inseparable parts and trend, to the contrary, very often chase each other. It’s possible to think that the editions of this year will continue on this mood and will present for the 2015 classic leathers and and vintage ones will alternate with elaborate and Baroque workmanship. The most traditional theme will be blended with a more eccentric mood. Also, I think this will continue to be a significant part of the market that looks to a young and trendy audience , as well as new treatments and finishes that , despite the difficult period, will continue to attract a curious and dynamic market. To the quality craftsmanship, the essential ”know how” of who with skill work leather products, it is added the interest in new techniques and results, in my opinion, are surprising and suggest a future that is increasingly oriented to excellence.
