From the purchase of certified supplies to the improvement of chemical and energy consumption.
After being at the center of international news for having destroyed inventory, for a value of 28.6 million pounds, Burberry has decided to give a green twist to entire supply chain. In fact, the British fashion company has begun to reuse, repair, donate and recycle products unsold to avoid destruction. Moreover, in an increasingly polluted world, even fashion houses must contribute to saving the planet.
Hence Burberry’s concrete commitment to adopt a greener and more company policy cruelty-free that is already starting to bear fruit. Just think of the fact that in the fiscal year 2018/2019 the English group purchased 49%of the skins from tanneries with environmental, social and traceability certifications, with an increase of +1% compared to the previous year and the intention to purchase 100% of certified tannery supllies by 2022.
According to what was reported in the Annual Report published last June 5; this historic result was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Italian tanneries involved in traceability projects. The fashion house, as well as on the certifications, is also focusing on improving fuel and chemicals efficiency in the procuction chain and on the use of renewable energies to feed their own structures.
